      2 share 1st place at 22nd Montcada Chess Tournament

      Montcada International Tournament, Spain


      The XXII Montcada International Chess Tournament took place from 25th June to 3rd July at Espacio Cultural Kursaal, in Montcada i Reixac, Spain.

      The event was a 9-round Swiss Open with more than 200 participants, 17 of which were Grandmasters.

      First place in Group A was shared by GM Hua Ni (China) and GM Yaroslav Zherebukh (Ukraine) on 7/9 points each, but Hua Ni took the trophy on superior tie-break score.

      Six players split the third place on 6,5 points each: GM Jorge Cori (Peru), GM Daniel Naroditsky (USA), GM Marc Narciso Dublan (Spain), IM Diptayan Ghosh (India), GM Vladimir Burmakin (Russia) and GM Rodrigo Vasquez Schroeder (Chile).

      Gerardo Palacios Peña (Spain) emerged a clear winner in Group-B with 8/9 points, while WCM Annie Shih Gould (Spain) claimed first in Open-C with 7,5 points, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind.
