      CHESS TRAINER’S WORKSHOP

      By : Mr. Ebenezer Joseph ( India’s first FIDE trainer) and other leading trainers

      Dates – July 18th(Mon) to 20th (Wed)
      Time – 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

      Venue – Russian Cultural Centre,
      No:74 Kasthuri Ranga road, Alwarpet, Chennai-600 018.

      Course Content:

      • Chess Basics
      • Foundational Principles
      • Introduction to Child Psychology – Understanding a child

      Training Principles

      Limited Participants: 20 participants only.

      For whom is this training?

      • Anyone interested to teach Chess.
      • Educational background – Minimum – Graduates (and those doing UG studies)
      • Comfortable with English as a medium of instruction.

      What this will do for you ?

      • You can confidently train Chess for beginners.
      • You can improve your Chess knowledge professionally

      • You can also choose Chess Training as a Career.

      What will you receive ?

      All successful participants will receive a Level –I Completion Certificate.
      You can do additional(optional) practical training under supervision of senior trainers at Emmanuel Chess Centre, Chennai.

      Course Fee : Rs. 4000 per candidate
      This includes Lunch and Tea on all the days
      Free Chess Set is given to each candidate
      Free Winning Moves Chess DVD 1 is included in this package. This DVD is a Video presentation having 8 episodes covering all the fundamentals of Chess.

        This seminar is the right thing we need more of in the chess community. Even though it’s 1500+ years old, with a voluminous literature accumulated over five centuries, we still don’t have a set of basic rules for chess domain adequately defined. As Professor Csikszentmihalyi put it in his fascinating book on creativity, clear definition of the basic principles will help find a super-fast way to get up-to-speed on the basic chess knowledge as a prerequisite for stepping into realm of imagination, creativity, and intuitive thinking…

        Chess Trainer’s Workshop – Level I
        July 2011
        A three-day Chess Trainer‟s Workshop was organised by the Emmanuel Chess Centre at the Russian Cultural Centre (RCC) in Chennai from 18-20 July, 2011. It was inaugurated by Mr. Vladimir Mariy, Director of RCC. The workshop drew 12 participants from various parts of the country, including Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
        The pedagogical training covered topics like foundational principles of chess and child psychology. The psychological aspects enabled the participants to understand, train and motivate the children more effectively.
        The following were accredited as „Level 1 Chess Trainer‟ by FIDE trainer Ebenezer Joseph, the Chief Consultant of Emmanuel Chess Centre: Prof. Viswanatha, Madras Christian College (Chennai), N. Balaji (Hosur) Abbass Ali (Thirunelveli), Sham Agarwal (Wardha, Maharashtra), Vikas Sahu (Udaipur, Rajasthan), V.G Thyagarajan & P. Loganathan (Sethu Bhaskara School, Chennai), Praveen Sadasivam (Tata Consultancy Services, Chennai), Raghuraman Balaji, K. Srinivasan, Swapna Raman and N. Watson Solomon (all from Chennai).
        Ebenezer Joseph, who is certified by FIDE Trainer Academy (Berlin, Germany), trained the trainers drawing from his vast experience as a player-trainer. He explained in detail the contents of the Winning Moves Chess DVD 1, copies of which were given to the participants. This DVD is a video presentation having 8 episodes covering all the fundamentals of chess.
        India‟s first International Master Manuel Aaron , International Arbiter V. Ravichandran, FIDE Press Officer Arvind Aaron, clinical psychologist Anitha Kennedy, occupational therapist Sharon David and Dr. J.W. Cecil Joseph were the key resource persons.
        Swapna Raman, a twin-MBA in Finance and IT, who attended this workshop, commented: “It was very informative, structured and the process flow was clear.”
        The Level I trainers can do practical training under supervision of senior trainers at the Emmanuel Chess Centre for the higher levels of certification. Level II Training will be conducted shortly. All participants will have the opportunity to get Divisional Instructor/National Instructor certification awarded by FIDE, the International Chess Federation.

        • Chess trainers
        • Chess Coaches preparing candidates for Tournaments
        • Regular chess players interested in chess coaching
        • Those completed Level I and practiced training for minimum 20 hrs.
        Mandatory qualification
        • Educational background – Minimum – Graduates (and those doing UG studies)
        • Comfortable with English as a medium of instruction.

        • You can prepare candidates for Chess Tournaments
        • You can improve your Chess knowledge professionally
        • You can earn more money in your free time.
        • You can also choose Chess Training as a Career.
