      Suat Atalik wins Silver Lake on tiebreaks

      Turkish Grandmaster Suat Atalik lifted the winner’s trophy in the main section of the Silver Lake Chess Festival after edging GM Dusan Popovic on tie-break.

      The two players finished on 7,0/9 points each, leaving Grandmasters Aleksandar Kovacevic and Branko Damljanovic half a point behind.

      In the B section reserved for U2100 players Valentin Mitev (BUL 1736) was the convincing winner with 7,5/9 points.

      Stefan Tomic and Aleksandar Nikolic shared the first place in Open C – U1700 section with 8,0/10 points each. Full standings for all sections below.

      The Chess Festival “Silver Lake 2015″ was held from 20-28th June, 2015, on Silver Lake, Serbia.

      The Festival was organized by the Branicevo Chess Union, Chess Club VGSK, municipality Veliko Gradište and Danubia Hotels. A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was held concurrently with the tournaments.

      A total of 208 participants and as many family members and trainers attended the event, greatly contributing to the touristic season of Veliko Gradište.
