      3rd place finisher Louiza Livschitz, winner of the $200 chess set (sponsored by Jeff Smith and House of Staunton), ICC membership (sponsored by ChessClub.com), $250 cash scholarship (sponsored by US Chess Trust), $105 stipend (SPF), and Texas Tech University scholarship (value at approx. $9,000 annually for out of state students x 4 years = $36,000). Louiza is on of the top rated girls in the country. She is interested in studying Medicine. Louiza was leading the tournament until losing her last round’s game to the tournament winner.

        I’m sorry Louiza didn’t win. Maybe next year. She’s one heck of a player!

        It’s no reflection on Louiza, some of those girls are tough chess players whose strength is often higher than their ratings!

        Louiza won 3rd place on tie-break. But the following girls also tied for 3rd with a score of 4.5/6:

        Amelia Wheeless
