      Calvin Prasad, Fiji, National Championship

      Prasad Eyes 3rd Championship
      by Fiji Chess Federation

      December 09

Defending national champion Candidate Master (CM) Calvin Prasad is preparing well for the 2014 Sports World Fiji National Chess Championship at the FASANOC Olympic House in Suva from December 15-19.

“After winning the national title in 2012 and 2013, it will be nice to target a third successive win next week,” said Prasad.

“It won’t be a cakewalk by all means because we have a host of veterans and Olympiad reps coming in for the challenge.”

The tournament will have five prizes each in categories for Elite, Women and Under-20.

“For the first time in a few years, we have made the national championship an open event,” said Women’s National Champion WCM Gloria Sukhu.

“This means that anyone who thinks that they can play good chess can come and participate.”
