      Chess Simul, Garry Kasparov, Peoria

World chess champion welcomes Peoria challenge
      Saturday, October 27, 2012 7:30 am

Garry Kasparov, considered by some as the greatest chess player of all time, will play 30 amateurs in a “SIMUL” event on Dec. 8 at Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria.

Kasparov is a former world chess champion who held the title from 1985 to 2000.

He was the top-ranked player in the world for 20 consecutive years, from 1986 through his retirement in 2005.

A “SIMUL” event is a simultaneous exhibition of chess where Kasparov plays each challenger by moving board to board, until all games are completed.

These events usually take two hours.

Presented by the city of Peoria, Peoria Unified School District and The Chess Emporium, there are opportunities for businesses and individuals to sponsor this event.

For a fee of $1,800, a sponsor will support one Arizona high school student to participate in the event, receive four tickets to the event, a photo with Kasparov, personalized book signing, four tickets to a special dinner with Kasparov, and on-site marketing and promotion.

For more information about sponsorships, contact Kelli Kincaid at 623-773-7178.

Mister Kasparov is a very busy man. No wonder why Raffael has been away from playchess.com for so much time.
