      3rd Oliver González Memorial Started in Madrid

      The 3rd Oliver González Memorial has begun yesterday at the “Daóiz y Velarde” Sport Pavilion in downtown Madrid, Spain.

      98 players from 13 countries compete in Group A and 144 compete in Group B (U2100 elo). There are 8 Grandmasters, 13 International Masters and 21 FIDE Masters in the field.

      In the first round the Cuban GM Holden Hernández was held to a draw by the lower-rated Diego Fernández Blazquez. The biggest surprise was that GM Davorin Komljenovic lost to Julio Silva Rodríguez.

      Top seeded are the Ukrainian Grandmasters Sergey Fedorchuk and Martyn Kravtsiv.

      Round 2 is currently in progress, follow the live games on the official website.
