Kazan FIDE Women Grand Prix
The 4th tournament of the FIDE Women Grand Prix 2011-2012 is scheduled to take place from 9th to 23rd June in Kazan, Russia. 12 players will compete in the round robin event.
The reigning World Champion Yifan Hou was the convincing winner of the first two GP tournaments in Rostov and Shenzhen. She skipped the 3rd stage in Nalchik, where her compatriot Zhao Xue dominated.
It is curious that Kazan, like Shenzhen earlier, will host the FIDE Women Grand Prix on June 2012 and Summer Universiade on 2013. Shenzhen organized the 26th Summer Universiade, which for the first time in the history of the FISU included chess as a competing sport.

The FIDE Women Grand Prix is a series of elite tournaments which will be organised by FIDE and Global Chess. There will be 6 stages over two years in various countries around the world with three tournaments every year.
The winner of each tournament will win 6,500 euros out of a prize fund of 40,000 euros and the overall winner of the series will win a further 15,000 euros at the end of the series.
Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, important cultural, science and economical centre. In 2005 Kazan celebrated its 1000 anniversary. Kazan is a city of unique history and it is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
In the atmosphere of tolerance more than 100 nationalities of Christian, Muslin and other religions have been dwelling in the city with the population of 1 million.
