      5th Karen Asrian Memorial Chess Tournament

      The Armenian Chess Federation is organizing an international open chess tournament which will take place on June 15-25, 2012, in the prominent resort town of Jermuk.

      All interested chess players can participate in the 9-round Swiss tournament. GM Tigran Kotanjian was the consecutive winner of the 3rd and 4th Asrian Memorial.

      Karen Asrian passed away in June 2008, at the age of 28. He was member of the Armenian national team which won the first gold medal at the 2006 Chess Olympiad in Turin.

      Prizes

      The total prize fund is equal to the dram equivalent of 18,500 US dollars.

      5th place 1 000
      6-10th places 500
      11-15th places 300

      Special Prizes for Women
      1st place 800
      2nd place 500
      3rd place 300

      Special Prizes for Participants under-16

      Special Prize for Participants under-14
      1st place 300

      Special Prize for Veterans
      /60 years and older/
      1st place 300

      Time Control

      90 minutes for the first 40 moves + 30 minutes for the remainder of the game (with 30 seconds increment starting from the first move).

      Registration fee

      2401-2450 20 000 AMD
      2301-2400 30 000 AMD
      2101-2300 50 000 AMD
      below 2100 or without
      rating 60 000 AMD

      The registration fee is waived for International Grandmasters and for chess players with rating above 2451.

      Hotel and food

      Participants will be offered hotel accommodation at Jermuk Ashkhar sanatorium. The price for one place in a double room is 12 000 AMD and in a single room – 17 000 AMD.

      Men, whose rating is 2601-2650, as well as women, whose rating is 2401-2450, will be provided with free of charge lodging in shared double rooms.

      International Grandmasters, whose rating is 2651 and above, as well as women, whose rating is 2451 and above, will be provided with free of charge single rooms.
      All above-mentioned options include 3 meals a day.

      The organizer will take into consideration the chess player’s rating at the moment of the registration for providing with an accommodation and charging the entry fee.

      Yerevan-Jermuk Transportation

      In case of in-advance made requests, the organizers of the tournament will provide foreign participants with transportation.

      Return: Jermuk-Yerevan-June 25, 10:00
      Two-way ticket: 7 000 AMD per person
