      Sport Official Announces Preparation for African Chess Cup

      Luanda — The northeastern Lunda Sul province’s director of Sports, Aníbal Janota, said that a programme is underway to mobilise and publicise the African Chess Championship set for Devember 1-10.

      Speaking to Angop, in Luanda about the organisation of the event, the official said leisure sites have been created to accommodate youths who are learning elementary notions about chess in central Kwanza Norte province’s Sumbe city, venue for the event.

      In addition to the host Angola, the African Chess Championship will be attended Uganda, South Africa, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Kenya, Ghana and São Tome and Principe.

      Angola currently holds the continental women’s title, while Egypt has the men’s.
