      David Arutinian and Bassem Amin share first in the 11th Rochefort Open

      The 11th Rochefort Open tournament was held from 25th February to 2nd March at the Congres Palais, in Rochefort, France.

      Just days before the huge Cappelle-la-Grande Open, the Rochefort Open was an excellent occasion for the players to test their preparation and use the perfect training opportunity.

      60 players competed in the main Open A which was reserved for the players rated above 1900. Grandmasters David Arutinian (Georgia) and Bassem Amin (Egypt) shared the first place with 7.0 points each.

      The Open B, available for players rated under 2000, had 92 participants. Houssein Kasamanli from Azerbaijan took a clear first place with the impressive score of 8.0 points.

      The tournaments were played over 9 rounds of Swiss system and offered the prize fund of 7000 EUR.

      Open A final standings:

      1-2. GM ARUTINIAN David 2553 GEO and GM AMIN Bassem 2608 EGY – 7.0

      3-6. GM SUMETS Andrey 2569 UKR, GM BARSOV Alexei 2514 UZB, GM JOJUA Davit 2507 GEO and IM BARBOSA Evandro Amorim 2416 BRA – 6,5

      7-10. GM MEKHITARIAN Krikor Sevag 2487 BRA, IM PULVETT Daniel 2340 VEN, IM SEQUERA PAOLINI Jose 2405 VEN and IM DEMUTH Adrien 2430 FRA – 6.0

      11-16. GM FIER Alexandr 2604 BRA, IM BEDOUIN Xavier 2401 FRA, IM DEBRAY Christopher 2398 FRA, IM MOLINA Roberto Junio Brito 2415 BRA, WIM BORIC Elena 2315 BIH and FM SAADA Julien 2326 FRA PCH Migne Echecs 5,5 etc (60 players)

      Last year winner was GM Yuri Solodovnichenko
