Youth chess championship set for Brookhouse School

The Kenya national youth chess championships-cum- world youth chess qualifiers will take place at the Brookhouse School next weekend. The event will feature the Under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 age groups for boys and girls. The tournament will be run on the 6 round Swiss system of pairing format. According to Larry Kagambi of Chess Kenya, play will start at 10am on Saturday and at 10.30am on February 26. The rate of play is 60 minutes per player to finish the game.
Kagambi said no consultations or analysis of unfinished games will be accepted. “If a player withdraws from the tournament before its conclusion, his score at the stage will stand. Games will be governed by the laws of chess compiled by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) as adopted in August 1955 and since amended and additions adopted by FIDE. Where practicable, both players shall give the tournament desk a signed, correct and legible record of their game immediately on completion,” Kagambi explained. Registration will be done on February 25.
