Bykhovsky wins SPICE Cup B, Finegold wins C

Texas Tech sophomore Anatoly Bykhovsky won the 2011 SPICE Cup B group with the score of 6.5 / 9. He played board one and helped the Texas Tech Knight Raiders capture the 2011 College Chess Final Four title earlier this year. He also tied for first with fellow Knight Raider GM Gergely Antal in the 2010 SPICE Cup B group.

Ben Finegold won the SPICE Cup C group with the score of 6.5 /9. Ben earned his third and final norm in the 2009 SPICE Cup B group. He tied for first with GM Eugene Perelshteyn and GM Vinay Bhat. He is now a fixture at the St. Louis Chess Club.

This was not an easy ending for Ben as he had black against IM Levon Altounian. Altounian was 1/2 point behind and was pushing hard to win. With a draw, IM Altounian and GM Friedel are tied for 2nd with 6 / 9.
