Sarin won boys’ title with nine points from 11 rounds during the championship held in Durban.
Sarin’s father said that it was a good and intense competition.
“It was a good competition, pretty intense in fact. There were participants from 95 countries for 11 rounds. He scored nine points with one loss, eight wins and two draws,” said Sarin’s father.
Meanwhile, Sarin also got rousing welcome at his school in Thrissur city.
“We are much delighted and very happy and actually the last two achievements the world champion in the alien under nine and the Asian championship that itself had given us much expectation about Nihal Sarin,” said School Principal of Devamatha CMI Public School Father Shajoo Edimenus.
Sarin, who learnt the tricks of the trade online with the help of his grandfather, said that the competition was tough as he did not have a regular coach.
“It is difficult because everyone is coming with their coaches to prepare. There were coaches from the US and many other countries. It is very difficult to win,” said Sarin. (ANI)

It isn’t real true. I am working with Nihal Sarin by Internet and prepared him to all games in Durban. It was mentioned in some articles in Malayalam language. Also we made hard two-week training session in Kerala in April. But of course this boy need special everyday attention! I believe after two years hard work he will become 2600+ GM.
