If Wesley competes here, he will be dusted by Nakamura, Topalov, Wei Yi, Yu Yangyi, Svidler, and Hou Yifan. Guaranteed. This field is a little bit stronger than the competition he face before. Forget Tata Steel. The players he faced on that tourney, while elites, were all worn out and burnt out from the previuos grilling stiff competetion they have participated.

        Nakamura will win.

Naka just woke up, it’s just need some push to regain his #1 status. But Wesley will soon overtake him again

These open tournaments are a great way to get rating points. The money’s not bad, too.

For those will came directly from the tough 13 rounds Tata steel should be fatigue by now. Naka’s decision to skip the Tata steel is a smart move.

Ex-world champion Topalov took a neat lesson from the great master. As the late Stuart Scott would say, Naka must be the bus driver – he takes everyone to school. Hahaha!
