      City Wide Chess Tournament at Lange MS

      City Wide Chess Tournament
      When Saturday, February 19, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
      Where Lange Middle School
      Cost $8 – $10 Age limit 5+

      Lange Middle School will host the Citywide Elementary and Middle School Chess Tournament

      Columbia, MO – Lange Middle School will host the annual Columbia Open Chess Tournament on Saturday, February 19, 2011.

      Over 100 students participated in last year’s tournament, which has been an annual event since 1998.

      The tournament is open to students in grades K through 7 who live within the boundaries of teh Columbia School District. Registration begins at 8:00 AM, February 19 at Lange and the first round of games start at 9:00 AM. Registration at the door is $10.

      Parents must accompany their children.

      After the final round of games is complete, at about 1:00 PM, awards will be presented.

      1st Place Individual Trophies: K-3, 4-5, 6-7
      Medals will be awarded to all players scoring in the top half of their section.
      Plaques: top 3 elementary school teams and top middle school team.
      (Teams are defined as the top 4 individual scores from a school.)
