
Snowdrops and Oldhands – Czech Coal Chess Match

The team of legendary grandmasters (Lajos Portisch, Dragoljub Velimirovic, Wolfgang Uhlmann and Vlastimil Hort) competes with the rising generation of female players (Humpy Koneru, Viktoria Cmilyte, Arianne Caoili and Tereza Olsarova) from 20 November till 27 November in Marienbad in hotel Villa Butterfly.
The speed of a game was 90 minutes for 40 moves with additional 30 minutes till the end of the game and 30 seconds was added for each completed move. The tournament is held by a civic association Prague Chess Society.

hello susan, not sure if you (or others out there) know this, but the title of the tournament in czech “snezenky a machri” is a also a title (and a reference made to) of an old czech comedy movie about a ski-trip.
just thought it was a nice bit of trivia. 🙂 since everybody here in the czech republic immediately knows this, perhaps others may want to know too.
