      Cuban Squad to 39th World Chess Olympiad

      Cuban Great Master Leinier Dominguez leads the team that will represent the island at the 39th World Chess Olympiad, set for September 23rd through October 4th in Russia.

      Other members of the Cuban team include also Great Master Lázaro Bruzón and International Masters Lisandra Ordaz and Oleiny Linares.

      “The main goal is to improve our previous personal results in this type of event, as well as to consolidate Cuba’s presence in the top competitions of the sports discipline,” said Linares, silver medallist at the 38th World Chess Olympiad in Germany.

        Great master? Hey, maybe we should make it official. It would require a world top-5 ranking for at least a period of 6 months. We need something, since there are way too many “grand” masters.
