      3 consecutive titles for GM Vitaly Kunin at Schwarzacher Open

      Kunin, Schwarzacher Open


      The 29th Schwarzacher Chess Open 2014 was held at the Ballroom of the Hotel Post in Schwarzach im Pongau, a market town in the Austrian state of Salzburg on 16-23 August 2014.

      The German GM Kunin Vitaly became three-peat champion of the Schwarzacher Chess Open, emerging a clear winner for third consecutive year.

      The member of Chess Club Royal Salzburg started with perfect 5/5 score and finished with 4 draws in a row. He lifted the trophy and grabbed the first prize of 2.000 €.

      The second place was shared in a five-way tie by GM Mladen Palac (Croatia), GM Egor Krivoborodov (Russia),GM Zoran Jovanovic (Croatia), GM Robert Zelcic (Croatia) and FM Bogdan-Daniel Deac (Romania) on 6,5 points each. However, Palac took the silver on superior tie-break score, while Krivoborodov remained third.
