        Only two of the last 16 are non-Europeans – Gelfand (Israel, but originally from Belarus) and Wesley So (Philippines).

        Why did Judit have to play a 3rd rapid game when she lost on the first 2 rapid games?

        They play 4 rapid, and if the complete result is draw, they continue the battle with the blitz. They dont play only 2 rapid. (And of course they play 4 blitz before the continuation)
