The name is Juan Martin del Potro

Juan Martin del Potro, Roger Federer, US Open Tennis

Final score: 3-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2. The Federer streak of 5 straight US Open title ended tonight. The man who ended his streak is 20 year old Juan Martin del Potro from Argentina. He is only the 2nd Argentinean to win the US Open. The other one is Guillermo Vilas (I think 1977 if I am not mistaken).

Which is a bigger shock? Kim Clijster winning the US Open after a 2.5 year retirement of Juan Martin del Potro defeating Roger Federer in Flushing Meadow?

        The bigger shock is Potro.
He has the time of his life,
from nobody to become a worldwide fame.

Clijsters pulled the bigger upset. Del Porto was #6 in the world and had taken Federer to 5 sets at the French. Clijsters was unseeded and unranked and had lost 6 of previous 7 times to Senena even when she reached her peak.

What is the connection with chess?

The connection is that you can see grass grow on centercourt at Wimbledon.

OK, Juan, let’s see what you’ve got…not sure I’m crazy about him, but maybe he can prove me wrong in this Open…Wow, that is just too awful, what’s wrong with this world. She probably and defiantly had a future and it’s all taken away…
