China defeats Poland, take over lead

      China, Women's World Team Championship

By defeating the leader Poland, China one has virtually assured the title since they will face Vietnam in the final round, a team which has not won a single match. However, the battle for Silver and Bronze is still up in the air as 4 teams are tied for 2nd.

Technically speaking, 6 teams can still win clear first or tie for first as they are within 2 points from each other. The only teams which have been eliminated from medal contention are India, USA, China 2 and Vietnam.

What an embarrassing performance by India and the US.

Yeah, well, next time will be better. Our team is young and inexperienced in these tournaments where luck matters the most. How many from here qualify for next one?

Team is not inexperienced. These are some of the same players who have won bronze medals in the last two Olympiad. Only Melekhina is a rookie and she is doing the best.

Melekhina is having a pretty good tournament though, holding her own while mostly having opponents that out rate her.
