Wesley So is invincible. Lotis Key will make him a world champion.

He lost one game, but he fought hard.He was only unbeaten left, it took 12 rounds for someone to beat him! And very strong player to do it. He has still climbed higher in the rating list than anyone. He will climb back tomorrow.

Giri just got lucky. Wesley will get him next time. Will stick with the strategy with LOTS of patience is the KEY to success.

As they say in the Philippines, So still has a lot more rice to eat before he can compete against the very best. Nevertheless, it’s an impressive showing (same place as last year?) despite the loss. Hey, Fischer’s first win against Spassky was during the World Championship, so it’s ok if you keep losing to the same opponent as long as you keep improving.

So consistent against Giri. No win yet. After this tournament, So will have to figure out how to beat Giri. I thought So was unsure on how to respond to Giri’s English Opening. He took a lot of time in the opening phase of the game trying to equalise the position. But to no avail. Giri will reach 2800 elo rating with a win in the last round. If not, he will surely do it in his next tournament.

This is the first time Weskey faces the real MEN and still got lucky to place 3rd. And there will be no next time around. He should go back to the second fiddle tournament.

So had the highest Elo jump after this tournament, easily barging into the world’s top ten, and just a few more elo points before he makes it into the top ten all-time highest. I don’t see why he should be playing in “second fiddle tournaments”.
