I just received news from Kay Elegbede that GM-elect Amon Simutowe has reached 2500 and his Grandmaster title is now official. Even though Amon earned his 3rd GM norm 2 years ago, his title was not officially confirmed due to the rating requirement.
I first met Amon in 2001 when I invited him to participate in the 2001 NY City Mayor’s Cup. I am very glad that he is able to fulfill his dream. Congratulations to Amon!
