      38th Ikaros International Chess Tournament

      Numerous and strong entries are setting the scene for an interesting tournament!

      The preparations for the 38th edition of Ikaros International Chess Tournament, which will be held from 11th till 19th of July at Aghios Kiyrikos, Ikaria island, Greece, are well under way.

      This year the interest of both foreign and Greek players is high and this can be attributed not only at the natural beauty of the island of Ikaria and the good fame of the tournament itself but also at two more factors: The very affordable accommodation offers (including special rates for families, young chess players, clubs groups and unemployed) and the very good composition of this year’s tournament that promises lots of interesting and competitive for games everyone.

      Moreover, this year the tournament includes an innovation that is the split of the tournament in two separate groups, one for players above 1500 (FIDE rating) and one for players below 1600 (players between 1500 and 1600 can choose their group).
