      IM Sergei Matsenko wins 6th “Terre degli Elimi” Chess Festival

      The 6th “Terre degli Elimi” chess festival was held from July 28th to August 4th, 2015, in Erice, a historic town and commune in the province of Trapani in Sicily, Italy.

      The event was organized by Alessandro Monaco and his chess club “Amici della Scacchiera” (Chessboard friends) in a 9-round Swiss format.

      Russian player IM Sergei Matsenko emerged a convincing winner with 7.5/9 points, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind.

      The second place was shared in a three-way tie by GM Imre Hera of Hungary, GM Salvador Alonso of Argentina and WGM Sabrina Vega Gutierrez of Spain, at 6.5 points each.
