      2015 European Youth Chess Championship kicks off in Porec

      The Croatian Chess Federation and the European Chess Union organize the 2015 European Youth Chess Championship from 20th September to 1st October, in the touristic town of Porec, situated on the western coast of Istrian Peninsula, Croatia.

      Each federation can register one (1) player in each of the categories – under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 (boys and girls), with the maximum number of twelve (12) players (“invited players”). Each federation can register an unlimited number of extra players.

      The tournament will be played according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds. National ratings will not be taken into consideration for pairings. The time rate will be 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

      Zero-tolerance rule will be applied for the first round.

      Default time for all other rounds will be 15 minutes.

      The first three players of each age group will be awarded with medals and awards as follow:
      1 st place: Laptop, 15,4” screen
      2 nd place: Laptop, 10,1” screen
      3 rd place: Tablet, 10,1” screen

      The first five players of each group will be awarded with trophies and special awards in goods (e.g. chess software, chess books, chess sets…). Each participant will receive an appropriate present.

      FIDE Seminars for Trainers, Arbiters and Organisers will be organised during Championship. ECU Educational Committee Meeting will be held from 24th September to 27th September 2015.

      The highest ranked player is IM Daniil Yuffa (2476) from Russia, who will head the field U18, while Serbian player Adela Velikic (2381) is top seed in Girls U18 section.
