      GM Natalia Zhukova receives the state Order of Princess Olga II

      The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has awarded Natalia Zhukova with the state Order of Princess Olga II for her high achievements in the sport of chess and her European Women Chess Title in 2015. Zhukova was awarded with aPresidential decree №18/2016

      Last year Poroshenko awarded the World Champion Mariya Muzychuk with Order of Merit. During that meeting, Muzychuk family proposed Ukraine and Lviv to submit a bid for holding the match against Hou Yifan from China, which now is a fact and will start 8th of March in Lviv.

      Natalia Oleksandrivna Zhukova is born 5 June 1979 in Dresden, East Germany.

      She played her first World Youth Championship at Mamaia 1991 where she shared third in the U12 category. From then on international youth success kept on coming with gold at the European Youth Championship for Girls U14 at Szombathely 1993, gold at the European Championship for Girls U16 at Herculane 1994, gold at the World Championship for Girls U16 at Szeged 1994, and silver at the World Championship for Girls U20 at Halle 1995.

      Since 1996 she is part of the Ukraine national Olympic team and was a major contributor to the gold in 2006, the silver in 2008, and the bronze medals in 2012 and 2014.

      Her rating in the January rating list is 2484 ELO
