      Yannick Pelletier

Azerbaijan removes name of Swiss chess player from “Persona Non Grata” list

In his letter to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, he expressed respect for the laws, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within internationally-recognized borders, noting that he was unaware of the consequences of his illegal visit to the Armenian-occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

Yannick Pelletier stressed that the visit in no case was aimed at promoting the so-called regime created in the occupied Azerbaijani territories. He noted that this so-called regime was created as a result of Armenian occupation and aggression against Azerbaijan.

Yannick Pelletier  who apologized to the Azerbaijani government and people for the illegal visit to the occupied territories, guaranteed to refrain from such visits to the occupied territories in future.

He asked to be allowed to travel Azerbaijan to attend the 42nd World Chess Olympiad and 87th FIDE Congress to be held on Aug.20-Sept.20, 2016 in Baku.

Yannick Pelletier’s appeal was considered appropriately and a decision was passed on visa issuance for him traveling Azerbaijan.
