      Serbian Open Chess Championship 2016

      Chess Federation of Serbia and Novi Sad Chess Union are organizing the 2016 Serbian Open Chess Championship from 6-13th November in Novi Sad, Serbia.

      The Championship is supported by the Novi Sad Department for Sport and Youth and the playing venue is SPENS small hall.

      SPENS takes a special place in the chess history as venue of 1990 Chess Olympiad and 2009 European Team Chess Championship.

      The Serbian Open Chess Championship is held concurrent with the 2016 European Club Cup, one of the strongest chess events in the international calendar. The games of Serbian Open will be starting at 17:00 and the participants will be able to visit the European Club Cup in “Hotel Park”.

      The Championship is open to all players from Serbia and abroad with a valid FIDE ID number and there are no rating restrictions.

      The tournament system will be 9-round Swiss system. The time control is 90 minutes per player, with addition of 30 seconds from move one. The other conditions will be regulated with the tournament rules issued before the start of the first round.

      The entry fee is 35 EUR. For women and juniors under 18 the entry fee is 25 EUR. Grandmasters and players rated above 2500 elo are not paying the entry fee.

      The registration is accepted until 5th November 18:00 through email serbiachessopen@gmail.com – contact person Biljana Lazic-Kovacevic.

      Payment for entry fee must be made in euros (€) to the account of Chess Federation of Serbia:

      Payment in cash is possible only at the playing venue on 6th November 2016 until 14:00.

      The total prize fund of 10,000 EUR (gross) will be distributed as follows:

      a) Regular prizes (7,600€):

      1) 2,000 EUR 2) 1,500 EUR 3) 1,000 EUR 4) 700 EUR 5) 500 EUR 6) 400 EUR 7) 300 EUR 8) 200 EUR 9) 200 EUR 10) 150 EUR 11) 150 EUR 12) 150 EUR 13) 150 EUR 14) 100 EUR 15) 100 EUR

      In case of shared places, for players with 7,0 points each and more the prizes will be divided according to the Hort system. For the players with 6,5 points each and under the prizes will be divided according to the rating performance.

      b) Special prizes (these prizes will not be divided):

      Players under 2450 elo (900€)
      1) 400 EUR 2) 300 EUR 3) 200 EUR

      Players under 2200 elo (450€)
      1) 200 EUR 2) 150 EUR 3) 100 EUR

      Best placed women (500€) – 1) 250 EUR 2) 150 € 3) 100 €

      Best placed non-awarded veteran over 60 (born 1956 or earlier) – 100 EUR

      Best placed non-awarded junior under 18 (born 1998 or later) (450€) – 1) 200 EUR 2) 150 EUR 3) 100 EUR

      The prizes will be paid in RSD under the rate: 123 RSD=1 EUR, with the deduction of tax for sports awards (-11%).

      The participants will be responsible for their own accommodation and travel arrangements. Information about the hotels, hostels and locations will be available on the tournament website serbianchessopen.com.

      Transfer from and to Belgrade Airport “Nikola Tesla” (80km distance) will be possible upon request to the organizers.

      The first 12 registered players rated over 2600 elo will be offered with free full board accommodation.
