The UCO Chess and Games Club will host its first annual Chess tournament Saturday, April 18th.

The tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Liberal Arts building and is open to anyone “with even a remote connection to UCO,” Dr. Mark Silcox. faculty advisor said.

“This is the first year for this version of the club and we’re constantly expanding,” Silcox said.

The club, which had been inactive for a few years, now has around 40 members, Silcox said.

While chess is the club’s main focus, members also partake in role-playing games and other board games.

Soon, Silcox will have the RPG “World of Darkness” ready to play.“We have a two and a half our meeting once a week, where we play chess and role-playing games, and also have social networking,” Silcox said.

The tournament costs $3 in advance and $5 the day of the tournament. Advance registrations can be dropped off in Silcox’s office in the Liberal Arts 205J.

For more information on the club, contact Dr. Mark Silcox, faculty advisor, at 974-5625 or at his email msilcox@uco.edu.
