11th Cup of Rector, Match of the Champions
      25th-29th March in Kharkov, Ukraine
      Report by Chessdom.com

The 11th Cup of Rector is scheduled to take place on 25th-29th March in Kharkov, Ukraine, in a completely different format. Unlike the previous year, when there were women and men closed invitational tournaments, this time a match between “PVK KievChess”, the bronze medalist from the recent European Club Cup, and Kharkov’s “Law Academy” will be played over five rounds.

The time control will be 90 minutes for each player to finish the game with extra 30 seconds for each move from the start (Fischer system) and the games will be broadcasted live on the ICC. Both teams are lining their strongest available rosters and we will get to see some of the top Ukrainian Grandmasters in action.

      PVK KievChess:

      1. GM Ponomariov Ruslan 2726
      2. GM Efimenko Zahar 2688

      4. GM Beliavsky Alexander 2646
      5. GM Baklan Vladimir 2627
      6. GM Vysochin Spartak 2526
      7. IM Nyzhnyk Illya 2503

      Law Academy:

      4. GM Kovchan Alexander 2543
      5. GM Aveskulov Valeriy 2526
      6. GM Brodsky Michail 2517
      7. IM Onischuk Vladimir 2487

So are they playing against each other?

Yeah, I think one team will play the other but in every round different players will fight each other. Yesterday KievChess lost 2-3: Ponomariov won, and Beliavsky and Nizhnik lost.
