      Ex-Servicemen’s chess club reach final
      06 March 2009

WITH a win over the current holders Great Yarmouth, under the handicap rules, the Lowestoft Ex-Servicemen’s Chess Club will play in the final of the Norfolk Rapid-Play Cup in April.

A great result for this relatively new group of players under the non-playing captaincy of Craig Robertson.

On Monday night at the club in Gordon Road, six club championship games were played which resulted in wins for Isaac Bligh, Ian Purdom, Mark Johnson and Terry Tripp. The most notable result was the win for in-form Mark Johnson over top seed Marek Przygoda.

Information on the group, which is open to all, can be obtained by telephoning Arthur Sparkes on 01502 584320.
