Strategies in Tough Times: Lessons from Chess

      Anand, India

      Anand interacts with students, professionals
      20 Dec 2008, 0411 hrs IST, TNN

PATNA: Patna and Jamshedpur from Bihar and Jharkhand respectively were among the 19 cities from which management students and professionals interacted through video-conferencing with three-time world chess champion Viswanathan Anand on Friday.

He gave replies to queries and questions put by them from the 19 cities. The session saw record turnout with a large number of participants tuning in from the identified cities, a NIIT communique said, adding that the theme of the session conducted through video-conferencing was “Strategies in Tough Times: Lessons from Chess.”

“Some of the pearls of wisdom shared by Anand included insights on knowing your goals, striving for objectivity, how not to worry about things you cannot control but to strengthen the areas you can, how having an in-depth knowledge of your opponent helps, how to use your intuition, and finally learning how to take the loss in your stride, so that you can move on the next battle,” the NIIT communique said.
