Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Wesley So scored 1.5 points in two rounds to remain unbeaten in the ongoing 2008 World Junior Chess Championship for Boys and Girls at the Gaziantep, Turkey, on Monday.

The 14-year-old So (2577), currently the youngest chess grandmaster in the world and seventh youngest in chess history, held International Master (IM) Deep Sengupta of India (Elo 2454) in round two then beat IM Denes Boros (Hungary/2472) in round three to tally 2.5 points after three rounds of the tournament, which drew the world’s top junior chess players.

The No. 11 seed So, who hails from Bacoor, Cavite, is now tied from 4th to 18th places along with fourth round opponent GM Manuel Hoyos Leon of Mexico (Elo 2543).
