I am…but not at the upsets; rather at the lack of timely pairings, results and games.
You’d figure the SPNI and all SP tourneys would have reached a level where these things were part of the planning and automatic.
Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate all that Susan does…but somebody else should be on top of this. Surely even a small and a local tournament should be cognizant of keeping the public informed…but I ramble
My daughter is playing in this tournament. The rounds start on time each day. They’re having a great time. There’s no complaint. I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
Lack of timely pairing? Pairings are published every night after dinner. There is nothing to complain about. The tournament runs very smoothly.
This is one of the best organized tournaments my daughter has played in. Susan and Paul are there from morning to night each day. So are Mr. Berry and Barber.
It’s unfortunate that there’re people who want to hold back chess for girls in this country. It’s sad for me as a chess mom to see the amount of abuse Susan has to face from the USCF.
I agree with “tx chess mom” and “alkanet” that the event has been going smoothly MANY THANKS to all the hard work by the organizers. My daughter is really enjoying the wonderful experience.
Nothing is perfect, of course. A minor opening day glitch did cause some confusion and delay: a player who was not on the confirmed players list appeared on the paring list. So the Texas alternate was added. This resulted in an odd number of seated players. Then another player’s unrated sister had to be drafted in order to make it even again.
Overall, the running of this tournament has been very impressive. And I wish every success to the tournament in the years to come!
Susan’s blog is a free service to all and no one should make demands on her for not posting results “in a timely fashion”.
I believe one can demand if they are paying. If people cannot show respect to Susan, who is a chess icon, who can people respect?
