Caruana and Adams join Carlsen and Anand

Adams, Anand, Carlsen, Fabiano Caruana, German Bundesliga

How would you like to see a chess team with Anand, Carlsen, Adams, and Caruana? Those are some of the names who will play for club OSG Baden-Baden in the German Bundesliga. Amazing! Isn’t it?

Nice Caruana gets big invitations. Naughty Nakamura gets little invitations. Nice is better than naughty.

The strong get stronger. Predecessor OSC Baden-Baden won titles regularly; and if they still have Svidler, Shirov, and Bacrot (among others), they’ll be hard to beat.

I guess the Bundesliga doesn’t have requirements for native players, like the French league.

Hi Paul, you are right – there are (unfortunately) no restrictions to foreign players in the German Bundesliga. Okay, it attracts many international top players, but I’d rather have the “French solution” in order to give domestic players a chance to nurture their skills. A ratio of at least 50% domestic players seems appropriate to me.
