      Chess Top 10, FIDE, ratings


      According to Chess Today, the top 10 chess nations in the World according to representation in the top 100 (with the highest rated player deciding in the case of a tie) is:

      Russia 25
      Ukraine 11
      Israel 6
      USA 5
      China 5
      France 5 (Three of their players have not played any games, though!)
      Bulgaria 4
      Armenia 4
      India 3
      Azerbeijan 3

        US has 6 in the top 100 if you include Susan Polgar.

        Hungary isn’t in this list, but on this list I count three Hungarians. Even at this late date, #21 just has to keep confusing everybody.

        Puts things into perspective.

        But if USA is ranked 5th, then why do so many other lower-ranked countries do better at sponsoring chess?

        I do not see Spain on the list.

        USA is fifth, but most of its top players are imported, and its population is very large.

        So “why do so many other lower-ranked countries do better at sponsoring chess?”

        Many of these ‘lower-ranking’ countries are far stronger than USA on a domestic production of GMs per million population basis.

        Yes Japan has one or two GM if i remember well Gentaro Gonda and Watanabe.

        The 10 powerful nations in the next following years:

        1 China
        2 Russia-Ukraine
        3 India
        4 U.S.A
        5 Israel-Hungary
        6 France-Turkey
        7 Czech Republic
        8 Italy
        9 England
        10 Germany

        Impressive growing nations are Turkey Egypt and Iran.I Am happy that my country will improve so mutch thanks to Fabiano,but Fortunately Italy is not only him.
        (It would be nice that he will learn in future a little bit of ours language.)
        We have beat Germany the last European championship,and i remember that Fabiano lost during that game.

        If we done so,we will have a medals in the Olympiads

        If they give possibility to this team we could arrive 10-15th and mabye better.
