First of all, I must say that I am quite impressed with Grischuk. He is on a world stage at this magnitude for the first time and I do not think too many expected him to be tied with Kramnik and Gelfand for 2nd place, only 1/2 point behind the leader. He defeated Morozevich in a nice game today to get to +1.
Gelfand outplayed Aronian with Aronian style. The position was quite complicated with Gelfand maintaining a slight advantage. He never relinquished that advantage and won after some inaccuracies by Aronian. Nice effort by Gelfand and this was the most exciting game of round 5 in my opinion.
Anand also played very well. But he had some help from Svidler. In a sharp Marshall, Svidler decided not to get his Queen to the agressive h3 square as often played in this opening. He never did anything to White’s Kingside and after Anand broke the position open with a4, he made a few horrible mistakes and the position became hopeless. Nice job by Anand to earn the sole lead.
Leko and Kramnik saw little actions as the game ended in a peaceful draw.

Susan, I am sorry to say it but you’re choice which games to comment wasn’t very good today.
Aronian’s loss against Gelfand was the best game, I, too, liked Grischuk’s and Moro’s game.
You shouldn’t have listened to all the people who wanted to see Kramnik’s and Anand’s boring games.
Thank you for starting to comment Aronian’s game after the (much to early) draw of K and L.

I do not agree regarding your opinion about Grischuk.His curent results is not big suprise.As I recall,he reached semi-final in FIDE knock-out WCCH in India 2001?(Anand beat Shirov in final)

Anand is a crybaby!! Have you heard his complaints in the technical meeting? Svidler gave him a free point, who woul dexpect that from a many time russia champion? Marshall would be ashamed to see such a game rom Svidy.

Now, I wanted to say that I demand all these rich players make generous donations in the fight against chess poverty. For example, 50% of their prize money would be OK. Give to parks where old men meet and play.
1.5 million dollars prize fund? And ‘chess players’ are still complaining? Who is giving away this kind of money, which can be used for homeless?
One problem is: Whenever a poll decides about 2 games from 4 to provide live commentary for, it will turn out that Anand’s and Kramnik’s games will have the most votes. Instead, I propose that we simply trust the sensible choice of GM Susan Polgar. Nevertheless, it is not easy to predict which game(s) will be the most interesting.
As for predictions in general, I have changed my mind (again) and now I think Grischuk can become World Champion 2007. It’s not that much because of his games or whatever… but my intuition tells me that he is the man of this tournament.

Svidler and Morozevich should receive offers for USCF passports. This would destroy the Russians from within and secure reigning of US chess the next ten years. Now thats something to dwell over.
Also, may I know why you are commenting these games for free? (Thank you, of course). On other websites only non-gm players do that free of charge.
Is there a place to go to read some poor commentary? On the level of 1100 maybe? Thats what Im searching for.
