Looking ahead toward the finish line

      Mexico City, World Championship

Someone could run away with the World Championship like Topalov did 2 years ago in San Luis. But I think the likely scenario is everything will be decided in the final 2 rounds. Therefore, I find the pairings for the last 2 rounds very interesting.

The top 3 poll leaders have very different roads. Aronian has Black in the final 2 rounds. Kramnik has 1 Black and 1 White in the final rounds. Anand has 2 White in the final 2 rounds! So if they are neck in neck coming down the stretch, the advantage would go to Anand.

      Round 13 on Friday, Sept. 28th 2007, 14:00h

      Viswanathan Anand – Peter Svidler
      Alexander Grischuk – Alexander Morozevich
      Peter Leko – Vladimir Kramnik
      Boris Gelfand – Levon Aronian

      Round 14 on Saturday, Sept. 29th 2007, 14:00h

      Peter Svidler – Levon Aronian
      Vladimir Kramnik – Boris Gelfand
      Alexander Morozevich – Peter Leko
      Viswanathan Anand – Alexander Grischuk

      Here is the official schedule.

Prediction: There will be more Black wins than White in the tournament.
