Yes, Rg6!! does the trick, as the rook can’t be captured (…NxR, 2 QxN mate) and the threat Rh6 mate can’t be stopped. Taking the bish doesn’t help either: …RxB [with either rook], 2 RxR+ Kh6 3 Qg6+! NxQ 4 R(g1)xN mate.
anonymous said “1.Rg6… mate in 5…” Hmm, just curious if black can hang on for another move, as I found a mate in four.
Ok, the black bish can move to f4 to cover the mating h6 square threatened by the rook. So 1 Rg6! Bf4 2 Qg4-h5 gives black the extra move, so I guess mate in five it is.
This was a very hard to find move, as it wasn’t a check and moved the rook to a square where it can be captured.
1.Rg6… mate in 5…
yes, si, oui
Xargon, the true one …

Why 2 … Kh6?
Why not 2 … RxR?
I don’t see an easy mate from that position.
1. Bf8
If 1Bf8 BxB
I still don’t see any easy mate.
after Bf8 BxB, Qxg8
1) Rg6 RxB (either black rook)
—> If 1)… NxR 2) QxN#
2) RxR Kh6
—> If 2)… RxR 3)QxR#
3) Qd2+ e3
4) Qxe3+ Bf4
5) QxB#
