      Fressinet wins Sigeman & Co Chess Tournament 2014

      The 22nd Sigeman Chess Tournament was organized by the Limhamn Chess Club on 15-19th May, 2014 at the classical Hipp Theater in Malmo, Sweden.

      French Grandmaster Laurent Fressinet took a clear first place with 3,5/5 points after his earlier co-leader IM Axel Smith lost in the last round to fellow Swede GM Nils Grandelius.

      2. IM Axel Smith – 3
      3-4. GM Jan Timman and GM Nils Grandelius – 2½
      5. GM Jon Ludvig Hammer – 2

        Weak field. This used to be a great and strong tournament before but the past years had seen his status as elite tourney plummeted to its lowest level the reason why top GM’s shy away from this relatively weak tournament. GM Fressinet kind of just use this garbage tournament collect elo points and cash prize. His opponents were past their prime and old players, weak this tourney is more of category 2 tournament. Congrats anyway for winning
