Well, Hopefully, this is win-win. Lahno, can continue her momentary pause and move upward. Negi’s response was good, indicating that he was not upset because this is his first match. It is a common occurence for players of all strengths to have their rating be higher than their true strength. The match suggests this happened to Negi. Lahno’s past results indicate that her rating was depressed. Lahno has a great future in front of her, but there are so many strong woman players in Europe, and now Asia! It really shows what a great achievement our woman’s silver metal was in the 2004 Olympiad. Negi may look back at this match like Alekhine did at his 0-3 match against Nenarokov. We shall see. If will be very interesting to see where both players are in 3 years

One must remember, this was not just a match between Lahno and Negi but also one between Lahno’s trainer and Negi. The experience will be very good for Negi. As someone has said “I prefer to loose chess matches: that way I learn more!”
