      Andrei Istratescu storming through Dieppe

      French Grandmaster Andrei Istratescu demolished the opposition in the 9th Dieppe Open to convincingly take the first place with 8,5/9 points.

      Istratescu won eight games and conceded only one draw to the similarly inspired GM Simen Agdestein of Norway. Agdestein “allowed” one draw too many and finished clear second with 8,0/9, point and a half ahead of the next group of players on shared third place.

      The 9th International Chess Festival Dieppe Open was held on 25-31st August at the Salle des Congres, Boulevard de Verdun, in Dieppe, France.

      The tournament format was 9-round Swiss and the total prize fund amounted to 5000 EUR. 133 players competed.

      1. GM ISTRATESCU Andrei FRA 2646 – 8,5
