      XXXVI International Open Barbera del Valles

      Barbera del Valles, Chess tournament


      The XXXVI Abierto Internacional de Barberá del Vallés will be played on 4th – 12th July at the chess club of this Catalan city, C/ Torre d´en Gorgs Nº 40.

      The event will be a 9-rounds Swiss open. The games will be played at 17:00 local time. The time control is 90 minutes for the game plus 30 seconds increments per move.

      There will be three groups. Group A is reserved for players with an Elo rating over 2150; Group B for players in the range between 1850 and 2149; and Group C for the ones that do not meet the minimal criteria of 1850 Elo points.

      The tournaments will be valid for FIDE, FEDA and FCE.

      Group A counts with 11 grandmasters and 22 international masters among the participants. The first seeds are Cuban GM Isán Ortiz, young Turkish talent Alexander Ipatov and Armenian Karen Grigoryan. The local representatives are headed by Josep Manuel Lopez, Marc Narciso and Alexis Cabrera. The recent champion of the Montcada Open, Chilean Mauricio Flores is also in the lineup.
