      An immediate impact for girls!

      All-Star, SPF

Back row: Julia Kerr, Eve Zhurbinskiy, Linda Diaz, Darrian Robinson and Abby Marshall
Front row: Ellen Xiang, Evan Xiang, Michelle Chen, Anna Matlin and Alena Kuzniatsova

The Susan Polgar All-Star Training created an immediate impact for some of the players.

Julia Kerr won the 2007 SP National Invitational for Girls which just ended a few days ago and Michelle Chen finished 9th and Anna Matlin also tied for 9th (10th on tie-break).

Julia Kerr also finished tie for 1st (2nd on tie-break) in the SP Puzzle Solving Championship.

Abby Marshall finished 6-0 to win the SP Blitz Championship. In addition, Abby just scored 7 / 9 in the US Open against very strong competition. She defeated 3 masters in a row and probably gained 75 – 100 rating points!

This is the primary reason for having this program which is fully funded by the Susan Polgar Foundation. Thanks to all our donors and sponsors for making it happen.

Was the Polgar Blitz tournament going to be rated this year? In was in 2006, but not in 2005. Just wondering.

I wanna know the names of these nice girls too. I assume one was the winner.

Congratulations to everyone who played. Always play in Susans tournaments. They are the best.

Awesome going 7/9 in the open.

someone around here recently said he did not think the girls could hold their own against the boys. Well think again.

        Go Girls Go.

I want to say Double Awesome and Double Congratulations to both Julia Kerr and Abby Marshall. Keep up the good work.

Susan you always amaze me. Everyone should be so proud of you and all your efforts for chess. I support you 100%.

I believe this photo is from Susan’s summer camp in NY. Don’t know who all the girls are but Julia appears in photos below. She is the tallest.

This is my first post. I’ve had a chance to get to know Susan over the last 4 years. She is as generous and considerate person as I’ve ever met in my comings and goings in the chess scene. All this in the face of a lot of life’s flack.

Her students accomplishments speak to her ability as a teacher. The girls truly like her-she is a great role model.

I’m sure improvements in how the USCF conducts business are soon to come. My only fear is that this mom, grandmaster, organization president, few will really get to know this terrific lady.

        Hey girls-you done good!
