      Antal & Drnovsek shared 1st at 6th Villach Open 2016

      The 6th International Villach Chess Open took place from February 6th to February 13th, 2016, in Villach, Austria.

      The event was organized by ESV ASKO Admira Villach – Section Chess in a 9-round Swiss format with time control 90’/ 40 moves + 30’ + 30”.

      Slovenian player Gal Drvovsek was in the lead with 7.5/8 points and one round to go, while FM Kende Antal Tibor from Hungary was a full point behind. However, the leader lost in the very last round against Polish participant Michal Lercel, while Antal Tibor defeated FM Pengyu Chen to tie for the first place.

      Antal Tibor and Drnovsek shared the first place with 7.5/9 points but Hungarian player lifted the trophy on a superior tie-break score.

      Chen and Lercel shared the third place with 7 points.
