well…it’s a fun touney…..though everyone knows…its not actual chess…its blind and speed so..we can take the results with a grain of salt I suppose….but what I keep wondering about is why is Van Welly…with all due respect always invited to all these tourneys when there are far stronger players out there.? Same with another I won’t mention….play all the top players..I don’t believe in (Local) representation.
Loek is a great player but same as one or two of the others…just not in this class….and as far as the Magnus and Karyakin contreversy goes…let em play a match…I think its clear Magnus is more of a fighter….and would win ..though Karyakin no doubt would play some fine games too.

When is GM Judit Polgar’s next tournament. I mean, at one time or another, she’s defeated all (or most….I don’t know the statistics) of these guys….especially Topalov, more than once.

Why didn’t she play in Linares? Was it that she wasn’t invited or was it personal obligations? She’s still amongst the best in the world being a “super GM” with above a 2700 rating. And, she’s young and has a great chess playing style.

It seems that all 2700 and above rated player (if they choose) should be allowed to go through the WCC cycle.

        Just wondering.

Ah, money talks I’m afraid, anon 10:30. The tournament sponsor is Dutch.

I don’t believe Gelfand belongs there either, but do believe Karjakin does.
If they took out Van Wely and Gelfand; and added in Radjabov, Svidler, Kamsky and Grischuk, that would be the ultimate tournament of active players today!

anon 5:10, Judit is simply not strong enough anymore for a tournament like Linares.
I do agree, though, that anyone over 2700 should be allowed to go through to the WCC cycle.
