      Jena holds Mousavi

      New Delhi (05 May 16) :-  Odisha youngster Rakesh Kumar Jena held fifth seed Iranian International Master Mousavi Seyed Khalil to a creditable draw in the second round of the ongoing Asian Junior Open Chess Championship here at Park Plaza today. Playing with white pieces of London system Jena forced his Iranian rival to sign the peace treaty after 42 moves.

      Top seed Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram defeated country mate Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad while second seed Grandmaster Karthikeyan Murali garnered victory over Sammed Jaykumar Shete in 34 moves.  Another Indian Grandmaster in the fray S L Narayanan also had easy day as he overcomes his Indian International Master rival Krishna Teja without much struggle.

      In the girls section, top seed R Vaishali outwitted Jemal Ovezdurdiyeva of Turkmenistan with black pieces while third seed Women International Michelle Catherina had an off day as she suffered defeat by the hands of K Priyanka.

      Maharashtra girl Sakshi Chitlange defeated fourth seed Uuriintuya Uurtsaikh of Mongolia while fifth seed Nandhidhaa PV satisfied with half point against Priyanka Nutakki.

      Third round of the championship are in progress at the time of report.

      Open Round-2 :-  Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad (0) lost to GM Aravindh Chithamabaram (2); GM Karthikeyan Murali (2) beat Sammed Jaykumar Shete (1); IM Krishna Teja N (1) lost to GM S L Narayanan (2); IM Masoud Mosadeghpour of Iran (2) beat Rakesh Kumar Nayak (1); FM Rakesh Kumar Jena (1.5) drew with IM Mousavi Seyed Khalil (1.5); FM Harshal Shahi (1.5) drew with FM Karthik V (1.5); Ojas Kulkarni (1) lost to Harsha Bharathakoti (2); Rahul Srivatshav P (2) beat Saurabh Anand (1); Charan Krishn (1) lost to Pranavananda V (2); FM Nima Javanbakht (1.5) beat Naotunna Dineth Nimnaka of Sri Lanka (1).

      Girls Round-2 :-  Jemal Ovezdurdiyeva of Turkmenistan (1) lost to WFM Vaishali R (2); Priyanka K (2) beat WIM Michelle Catherina (1); Uuriintuya Uurtsaikh of Mongolia (1) lost to WIM Sakshi Chitlange (2); Priyanka Nutakki (1.5) drew with WIM Nandhidhaa P V (1.5); Divya Lakshmi R (2) beat Harshita Guddanti (1); Bala Kannamma P (1.5) drew with WCM Isha Sharma (1.5); WCM Ananya Suresh (1.5) drew with WCM Saloni Sapale (1.5); Shweta Gole (2) beat WCM Chandreyee Hajra (1); Hamedi Nia Vesal of Iran (2) beat Sunyuktha CMN (1); WFM Varshini V (1.5) beat Priyamvada Karamcheti (1).
