Breaking news: Ivanchuk on the verge of being eliminated

      Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, World Cup

After 2 draws in the classical games, Ivanchuk won game 3 in rapid and all he needed was a draw in game 4 to move on to round 4.

But the former European champion Nisipeanu had other ideas. Nisipeanu won game 4 to even up the match. Nisi also defeated the reigning world blitz champion in their first blitz game with the Black pieces in game 5. All Nisi needs to do now is draw with White in game 6 to eliminate Ivanchuk.

Sasikiran defeated Macieja in the first blitz game after all draws in the first four games. Macieja will be sent home unless he can win the 6th game with the Black pieces to even up the match.

      Stay tune!

Update: Ivanchuk is now up a pawn heading into the endgame but it is still a very hard game to win.
